January is considered National Hot Tea Month. In this video you will learn how easy it is to prepare hot tea using loose leaf teas. Being born in Guyana (previously British Guiana), I grew up drinking hot tea. It was what we had for breakfast, afternoon tea and sometimes an evening cup. I remember my mom always had a pot of hot tea ready to serve anyone who stopped by or at any time of the day one could enjoy a cup of tea. Although now that I’ve added coffee to my palette, I still have at least 2 cups of hot tea every day.
For many people, January is a time for new beginnings and new goals. Quite often, these goals are related to health and wellness. Tea is recognized around the globe for its powerful healing properties. From antioxidants to boosting your immune system and soothing digestive problems.
This January, try making premium tea a part of your health-related New Year’s Resolution. Whether you’re aiming to ward off pesky colds, or increase your energy levels, hot tea just may be the boost your body needs to reach your wellness goals this year.
Baking with Tea
Thanks to its rich flavor and delightful fragrance, tea is a wonderful addition to many food and beverage recipes. As much as I enjoy drinking tea, I enjoy baking with it too. Some of my methods include, steeping tea in milk for a sweet treat and or melting butter then adding the tea and let it steep for at least 20-30 minutes. Strain with a fine sieve and discard the tea leaves then cool or refrigerate the butter for use according to the recipes. There is no better feeling than pulling a fresh batch of baked goodies (like scones) out of the oven on a cold January day.
