Have you ever experienced spending a lot of money for iced lattes at coffee-shops that leaves you feeling bloated, disappointed and wondering what did I just consumed? If you haven’t, that’s great. I’ve had my share of that, not to mention the money I’ve spent. That led me to two things. A) Researching how to curate my own coffee blend. B) Testing my barista skills, which is how I came up with my version of iced latte. It’s healthier, made with all-natural ingredients and tailored exactly to my taste for a fraction of the price it cost me at those coffee shops. Also, by making this from scratch it allows me to use dairy-free milks that don’t contain gums and thickeners, unlike many of the options available at coffee shops.
So give it a try, put your creative barista skills to the test and try adding your favorite flavors. For example, hazelnut, almond, coconut milk, vanilla-soy milk. Enjoy!
Drop me a comment on what you came up with.
INGREDIENTS
6 ounces strong brewed coffee, chilled
1 cup full fat oat milk
1 teaspoon pure honey, more as needed
1 teaspoon pure vanilla
1/4-1/2 cup ice cubes
Oat Milk Creamer or Cashew Creamer ,Optional
DIRECTIONS
Brew coffee and chill for at least 30 minutes.
Fill up a glass or a cup with ice cubes, then add the chilled coffee.
Stir in the honey and vanilla.
Add the oat milk and stir to combine.
Add some creamer (optional) then stir and enjoy.
Chefs Tip:
If you love strong coffee, then it’s best to brew it stronger than usual. That way it won’t become watered down as the ice melts. You can also make the ice cubes from coffee or milk.
